"The Golden Rule: If you hit your opponent's face with Highmane, you win!" - Amaz

Overview

The Midrange Hunter specializes in controlling the board in the early game with value minions such as Haunted Creeper, Mad Scientist, and Animal Companion. Cards like Piloted Shredder and Houndmaster further strengthen the Hunter's board. By the point when Savannah Highmane and Dr. Boom are played, your opponent should be at low enough health that Eaglehorn Bow, Unleash the Hounds, and Kill Command will be enough to finish them before the game transitions into the late game.

Comments

  • Try to get early board control while they ramp up with Wild Growth, Druids have problem getting back when they've fallen behind. Remember Force of Nature is a great counter to Freezing Trap.

  • Usually the player that is able to go face with their minions win, the one that gets on the backfoot and has to trade loses.

  • Against Mechmage Eaglehorn Bow is your best card. One of few ways to get back from behind in that matchup is Knife Juggler + Unleash.

  • Try to be aggresive and set up a board with multiple deathrattle minions so you don't die to Consecrate. Remember that you can Owl an Aldored Highmane.

  • They have great tools to handle your earlygame with Nova/Soulpriest/Cleric. Most of the matchup is dependant on your lategame and if they draw the right answers to it.
  • Never let the rogue get any minions on board. Eaglehorn Bow is MVP. Be aware of Sap on your Highmane.

  • Plays out very similar to the Mechmage matchup. Keep the board in check and usually they can't answer your Belchers and Highmanes and you take the game from there.

  • Against Zoolock you play defensively and go for your lategamethreats, Unleash + Juggler is really strong on turn 5. Against Handlock just build up a strong enough board until you can kill them from 15~ in one turn.

  • Everything depends on your lategame. Savannah Highmane is your best card and something you should actively look for
  • Remember that you can actually grind them out in the lategame due to their lack of card draw
